How can I get quotes for Group Health Insurance in California?

If you are interested in seeing what's out in the market for group health insurance, it doesn't take much information to run a quote.

Here's what is needed:

  1. Company Name
  2. Employee Names
  3. Employee Dates of Birth
  4. Company Zip Code
That's all! I don't know about other brokers, but with that information, I can get quotes for over 100 different group health plans available in California.

Reasonable Group Health Rates

Has your company gotten the shaft recently with soaring group health premiums in California? Group Health rates consistently out-pace inflation and there's no end in site on when they might level off.

A lot of groups that I work downgrade their group health plans, especially when rates are going up over 10%. This leaves a really bad taste in my client's mouthes but for some, that's their only option. I've had success switching clients to other carriers who will run promotions for new groups to give them lower rates and better coverage. Since there is no penalty for switching carriers and new carriers honor current deductibles met, it's a great play for many companies.

Most doctors are on multiple networks so switching carriers isn't as bad as you may think. If your broker hasn't given you alternatives to your current plan, I would consider changing brokers to one that does.

Health care is probably the most important employee benefit and making it affordable for your company should be a priority.

How many people does it take for group health insurance?

For those of you wondering, as long as there are 2 employees on the payroll or 2 corporate officers listed in the business, you can get guaranteed group health insurance. I actually just signed up 1 family under a group plan. The wife owns a publishing company and the husband writes books for the company. They are both listed as owners of the company so I was able to get them group health insurance and issue only 1 policy that covered both of them and their 2 year old boy.

Not only was I able to save them money, I was able to get them guaranteed insurance. The wife had a previous bout with cancer which is not highly desirable when insurers are underwriting individual policies. Instead of paying a crazy amount of money with limited coverage, they were able to get an affordable plan with great coverage.

Groups don't have to be big to get big benefits. I'm not sure who groups are treated in every state but in California, 2 is enough.
